- Khamzat Chimaev blamed Darren Till’s “bad influence” for his missed weight in the past
- “Borz” ahs never fought at welterweight since badly missing weight at UFC 279 in 2022
Khamzat Chimaev accused his friend Darren Till of swaying him into bad diet, ultimately making him miss weight back in his time as a welterweight.
It’s Darren’s fault
During an epic conversation on X space, “Borz” playfully blamed “The Gorilla” for his struggles in making weight at the 170-pound division. According to Chimaev, Till regulary drank beer and ate chocolates which prompted him to do the same, resulting in overweight.
“Before I met you, I never missed weight. Because you eat everyday chocolate brother, I couldn’t stop as well… You don’t have discipline bro, that’s why you’re not close to me now. Now you’re in Liverpool. Don’t lie, man. You drink beer every day, man. Bad influence,” Chimaev told Till.

It can be recalled that Chimaev badly missed weight for his welterweight showdown with Nate Diaz at UFC 279 back in 2022. The Chechen fighter tipped the scale at a staggering 178.5 pounds which ultimately saw him being booked against Kevin Holland for a catchweight bout instead.
‘Borz’ should be in shape for UFC 308
Since missing weight at UFC 279, Chimaev decided to fight at middleweight. In fact, his latest fight was at 185 against former middleweight champion Kamaru Usman.
“Borz” will make his much-awaited UFC return at UFC 308 next month against former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. All told, it’s safe to say fans would be hoping Chimaev wouldn’t show up in the official weigh-ins overweight once again.
Unsurprisingly, Chimaev is aiming to fight for the middleweight title. As early as now, “Borz” has already poked Dricus du Plessis by calling the reining 185-pound champion an “African gay.”
