Former UFC lightweight contender Kevin Lee didn’t shy away from expressing his desire to take on Khamzat Chimaev, who previously claimed everyone has been ducking him. Chimaev has become one of the most notorious fighters in the UFC but Lee made it clear that he’s not intimidated by “Borz.”

Borz doesn’t stand a chance

Taking his thoughts to Twitter, “The Motown Phenom” tagged the UFC in his pitch for a showdown with Chimaev. Lee didn’t elaborate on how the said fight could play out given he’s no longer tied up with the UFC. However, the 30-year-old is certain about one thing – “Borz” wouldn’t stand a chance against him, especially on the ground.

Lee also acknowledged the fact that Chimaev has finished four of his first five UFC opponents in the first round but insisted it won’t be the case when they face each other.

“I will fight @KChimaev next,” Lee tweeted. “He won’t outwrestle me and I’ve never lost a first round. @ufc.

“All I’m saying is I’m willing. Don’t act like everybody scared of the man,” he later added.

Something’s not making sense

While Lee is confident about beating Chimaev, it appears that the trajectories of their recent performances don’t suggest the same thing. Lee’s latest win was an impressive unanimous decision victory over an ageing Diego Sanchez at Eagle FC 46 in March. However, his last victory via finish was in 2019 at UFC 244 where KO’d Gregor Gillespie.

Needless to say, it’s far behind Chimaev’s incredible success in the UFC. As it stands, “Borz” has gone unbeaten in all his six UFC fights. His latest victim was Kevin Holland, whom he quickly finished via Brabo Choke submission in the very first round of their UFC 279 catchweight bout.

It is yet to be determined what’s next for Lee, while Chimaev’s coach previously said he’s all-in on a middleweight title fight with reigning 185-pound champion Alex Pereira.
