Kamaru Usman believes Colby Covington has some quit in him.

Covington wouldn’t exactly give up when he went 10 rounds with the UFC Welterweight Champion. ‘Chaos’ would protest the ending of their first fight, after Usman knocked him down twice. He’d try to take Usman down but would have the fight stopped instead.

In the rematch, Covington once again went through adversity. The challenger got back up each time he got knocked down and ultimately won some rounds after that. Despite this, Usman figures that Covington has some kryptonite in his mental game.

‘Absolutely’

He thinks his rival would give up under the right circumstances.

“Absolutely,” Usman said, when asked if Colby had quit in him. “[In the first fight] if you look back after the third round, when I cracked his jaw, he went back to his corner and he told his corner, my jaw’s broken. He wanted a way out.

“He might’ve toughened up, he might’ve cleaned it up and he’s no longer that guy. Let’s be honest, almost everybody has a price. If Masvidal can do enough damage, I think Colby would make that deal with himself to be able to quit.”

Will Covington quit? We’ll see what happens this weekend at UFC 272.

Usman Sees Another Rematch Down The Line

If Colby Covington is able to prove Usman wrong, the UFC Welterweight Champion welcomes a trilogy fight with his rival. He believes there’s a good chance they’ll fight again. At least a bigger chance than fighting ‘Gamebred’ again.

“I think Covington,” Usman answered, when asked who he’ll more likely fight again. “Because the mouth is too big. I have to shatter it one more time.”
