Justin Gaethje Wants Khabib Fight Over Conor McGregor
Fans have been calling for Justin Gaethje to fight Conor McGregor upon his return. However, Justin has other plans for what he wants.
Just Gaethje is one of MMA’s most entertaining fighters. Any time he steps into the Octagon, you know he will be bringing action. Moreover, he has put together a string of impressive wins, that have set him up for some big fights.
One such fight that fans want to see from Gaethje, is that of Conor McGregor. There is constantly speculation as to who McGregor would fight in his return, from a rematch with Khabib, to a fight with Frankie Edgar. However, Gaethje has been blasting McGregor on social media, prompting excitement for a potential fight.
Nevertheless, in a recent interview, Justin Gaethje says he is more interested in a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“I want to fight the best in world, I want to prove I’m the best in the world. That’s Khabib. He’s publicly stated many times that he’s not going to fight many more times, so I have to make that happen one way or another.”
He goes on to explain that he is willing to do the fight with McGregor, but for practical reasons.
“If he’s going to fight, then he’s No. 3, I’m No. 4. I need to solidify my shot at the title. There’s probably four different scenarios in which that happens. And that’s one big one. So yeah, absolutely interested.”
However, Gaethje does not think McGregor wants to fight him.
“If he’s going to fight, he’s calling out Frankie Edgar. You know, nothing but respect for that man, but he’s 30 pounds lighter, so deep down, I know it, you know it, but he knows it. He surely knows that he’s a f–king coward.”
Nevertheless, Justin Gaethje says that given the choice, he would pick a fight with Khabib over McGregor.
“I want to be the best in the world. Khabib is the bigger superstar right now than Conor is, and that’s a fact. He’s got one of the biggest countries, the biggest country in the world behind him. What are we doing here?”
