Justin Gaethje and Jamahal Hill share insights after UFC 300 losses.
In June last year, Justin Gaethje grabbed the ‘BMF’ title with a knockout win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 291. This past Saturday, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, he put that title on the line against former featherweight champ Max Holloway.
Fresh from his head kick knockout victory over Poirier, Gaethje was in high spirits, aiming to build on his two-fight win streak. Meanwhile, Holloway, also on a two-fight win streak, stepped up a division after his thrilling knockout win over Chan Sung Jung in his previous bout.
Last night at UFC 300 (Sat., April. 13, 2024), Justin Gaethje faced a tough knockout loss against Max Holloway inside the T-Mobile Arena. With just one second left in the fight, Holloway landed a devastating blow that ended the bout. Although Gaethje lost his “Baddest Motherf—ker” (BMF) belt, he did receive the ‘Fight of the Night’ award for his efforts.
Shortly after the brutal knockout, Gaethje turned to his social media to share an update.
It’s a relief to know that Gaethje is doing alright. That knockout was pretty scary, and they wasted no time getting him out of the octagon afterward.

“The Highlight” saw his two-fight winning streak come to an end, which had initially earned him the BMF belt.
I’m in great spirits with my family. Thanks for all the love. What a sport. @BlessedMMA you’re a dog. Congrats. Well deserved double bonus #ufc300

Jamahal Hill Discuss UFC 300 Loss
Meanwhile, Jamahal Hill clinched the UFC 205-pound championship in January 2023 by defeating Glover Teixeira. Unfortunately, he couldn’t defend the title because of an injury.
He had to give up the belt after tearing his Achilles tendon during a pickup basketball game. Meanwhile, former middleweight champ Alex Pereira stepped up a weight class and snagged the title.
Last Saturday, Pereira defended the belt for the first time against Hill, who never had the chance to defend it himself. Pereira has been on a winning streak since moving up to the light heavyweight division, defeating former champs Jan Blachowicz and Jiri Prochazka. Hill was eager to reclaim the title he had to let go of.
Pereira started with an outside leg kick. Hill countered with one of his own. They traded leg kicks. Standing face-to-face, Pereira landed a body kick, to which Hill replied with a right hand. Pereira aimed for the body with a right hand, while Hill attempted a high kick, which was blocked. Pereira followed up with a body punch and leg kick. Pushing forward, Pereira ate a kick to the cup from Hill, prompting Pereira to signal to continue the fight.
Pereira landed a left hook, sending Hill tumbling backward with his arms out, hitting the canvas. Pereira followed him down, delivering a barrage of left hands until Hill lay motionless on the floor.

Following his defeat, Hill took to social media to express his thoughts on the devastating loss.
“Oh well, that’s the game we play,” Hill said. “I got caught. For anyone that cares, I’m good. I’m well. We’re still doing our thing tonight, you know where we’re at – we’re over at Hakkasan. Yeah, man. We’re just built to come right back.”
