Junior dos Santos gives health update
“JDS” took on fellow former UFC star Yorgan De Castro at Eagle FC 47 in the main event. In the third round, however, dos Santos dislocated his shoulder, forcing the bout to end.
As a result, De Castro was awarded the victory via TKO. Now, the Brazilian knockout artist has taken to social media to provide fans with an update after the unfortunate defeat this past weekend.
“I already talked to my doctor, we’re gonna do some exams and figure out what’s gonna be the procedures to get this thing better as soon as possible,” Dos Santos said (via MMA Junkie). “But before going to battle I’d like to share with you guys that I was feeling so happy. I was feeling very good during the fight, like I haven’t felt in a long, long time.
“It was good because I was able to deliver everything I worked for. The hard work we put in the gym, I was able to bring inside the octagon on the day of the fight and things were working good for us until we had this injury.”
The loss marked the fifth straight for dos Santos in mixed martial arts (MMA) competition. He hasn’t won a fight since his second-round knockout defeat of Derrick Lewis in 2019. Dos Santos has been finished in each of his five losses thus far.
As for De Castro, he is now on a three-fight win streak, his victory over Dos Santos being his second under the Eagle FC banner. De Castro left the UFC in 2021 after a three-fight losing skid with the promotion. His only win with the UFC came during the Dana White Contender Series which earned him a UFC contract.
Now, De Castro is hoping for a better result with his run in Eagle FC, and he’s off to a great start thus far.
