Judge rules in favor of Don King to prevent Mayorga from fighting, Shine Fights doesn’t care

Remember when we told you Din Thomas wanted to send Ricardo Mayorga to a Nicaraguan fruit stand? What about when Mayorga offered Din’s family photography lessons so they can have photos to remember what his face looked like before the their fight? Smack-talk at this escalated level of sophistication takes years to master. You don’t just wake up one morning and come up with lines like ”He will be wearing a straw hat, smoking cigarettes, and selling bananas once and for all.” Din Thomas is the William Shakespeare of MMA, and if he has to wait any longer for this fight to happen, we’d probably hear him coming up with insults in iambic pentameter just to show you how talented he really is.

Today is supposed to be the day the talking comes to an end and these fighters finally get to settle their differences, but unfortunately, there’s some drama and it’s unfolding by the minute.

Here’s what we know so far. Although Shine fights urinated on Don King’s threats to shut them down. According to Josh Gross:

“Broward Country Circuit Court Judge Marc C. Gold ruled in favor of Don King Productions, granting injunctive relief at 1:20 p.m. ET.”

I’m not a lawyer. I can’t even pronounce most of the words on the ingredients list of a bag of Sun Chips, but what I think that means in English is that Ricardo Mayorga is forbidden headline Shine Fights alongside Din Thomas. If true, Don King’s injunction could seriously compromise the number of PPV buys, and thereby cripple the organization that’s already up against a live Strikeforce card tonight.

The only thing we know for sure is that Don King hates you whether you’re a boxing fan or an MMA fan. He probably hates ice cream and puppies too. If you don’t buy the Shine PPV tonight to see what goes down, Don King wins.

UPDATE: We’ve just learned that it appears that Shine Fights intends to proceed with the event, and Ricardo Mayorga will ignore the court injunction forbidding him to fight Din Thomas. Technically, that means this fight could go down as an ‘Exhibition’ fight, or they could just fight in the parking while fans broadcast via UStream.

UPDATE 2: Don King won his ruling, Shine Fights still plans to continue the progress with Din Thomas vs. Ricardo Mayorga, Don King may take over PPV and Din Thomas believes he’s not fighting Ricardo. Craziness afoot. Story still developing.

UPDATE 3: Don King walked in to the court room with two duffel bags stuffed with $1,000,000 to cancel Shine Fights. It’s done. The entire event has been canceled. Refunds will be issued on Monday. Shine Fights Promotions may officially be over.
