Jorge Masvidal Says He Would Kill Conor McGregor If They Fought

Jorge Masvidal was briefly considered for a bout with Irish Superstar Conor McGregor. However, he has an interesting reason why the fight will not be happening.

Masvidal is set to take on Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 244, for the BMF title. Diaz called for the fight after beating Anthony Pettis, and immediately fans were on board. It was essentially a fight that booked itself.

However before this fight was made, there was another opponent rumored for Masvidal. This rumor comes in the form of Conor McGregor, who has not fought since November, 2018. Nevertheless, the bout did not materialize, and Diaz instead got the fight.

Well, in an interview with ESPN, Jorge Masvidal explains why the fight with McGregor will not be happening. It is not for the reasons one may assume, either.

“That fight the president deemed it not good because they don’t want like a murder charge on me, so they’re not gonna allow that to happen. The president himself already said it, so I don’t want to go to jail for killing nobody. That’s not what I want to do. I’m here to compete and beat people up.”

According to Masvidal, if he were to fight McGregor, he would leave the arena in handcuffs. While that is a bit dramatic, it is still a more compelling fight to see him face off against Nate Diaz, for the BMF title. UFC 244 takes place on
