You can’t help but admire Jon Jones’ gumption. Dude hasn’t even defended his UFC light heavyweight championship and he is already saying Fedor would be a good test for him. Sure that’s true, and I think Bones might actually be the favorite in that fight (or would he be? My god!) but I don’t think fighting a dude who is a dozen years older than you, on a two fight losing streak who already tried to retire in the cage before his handler’s told him he couldn’t is the best litmus test for one’s career. I would still watch it though, heck I would pay to watch that.
The hypothetical Fedor matchup and what Bones thinks of fighting Dan Henderson was brought up by our friend Sergio Non during a USA Today interview over UFC 129 weekend.
“Oooh, Fedor that would be the fight that interests me the most, I admire Fedor a lot, and that would be a great gauge to see where I’m at in my career. As far as fighting Dan Henderson, I would love that fight, as well. I’m not trying to call them out but I would be honored to fight either one of them.”
The more I think about it, I want to see Bones/Fedor more than Fedor/Hendo.
