Johnny Walker Tears Down Jon Jones’ UFC 229 Performance

Johnny Walker is the hottest light heavyweight prospects in a long time. So, when he talks about a fight with Jon Jones, people may want to listen.

Walker has superstar potential. He has knockout power, evident in his first three UFC fights. Additionally, he has quite the eccentric personality. In fact, Walker did the worm after his most recent victory over Misha Cirkunov, when he injured his shoulder.

However, he was recently cleared to return. Now, Johnny Walker has his eyes set on Jon Jones. He spoke to MMAFighting to discuss his desire to fight the champ.

“My target is the champion, so I’ll fight whoever they put in front of me, it doesn’t matter,. I don’t have a preference. I have to get past someone to get (to the belt), so I don’t care. Whoever they bring, it’s fine.”

Despite this, Walker took time to express how he felt about Jones’ most recent performance.

“I think he can do much better than that. He definitely has to do more against me, otherwise I’ll knock him out in the first round..

I think ‘Marreta’ was a great challenge, But ‘Marreta’ got hurt in the first round. Jones is the champion and would obviously win if it went to the scorecards, so I think he took his foot off the gas and the fight went the way you saw.”

Although Walker was critical of Jones, he knows that a fight with him would be different.

“he won’t fight that way. I know he’s capable of five rounds of action with me. It will be the best fight of the year. It’s up to him, though. I’m 100 percent ready.”

Johnny Walker is one good win away from a fight with Jon Jones. Hopefully, we see these two sooner rather than later.
