Johnny Walker is opening up about his substance abuse issues and regaining control of his life.

Johnny Walker is busy getting his life in order. The UFC light heavyweight has had a bit of a rough go of it recently inside the cage and out. Walker was at one time in title contention talks but after a bit of a slump, he has fallen to the number 11 spot in the rankings. He was able to get himself back in the win column at UFC 279 with a win over Ion Cutelabra. The win was the first in his last three fights and Walker is attributing a change in lifestyle to his improvement.

Johnny Walker explains the issues he had taking CBD and THC

Walker recently decided to clean up his life which included eliminating certain substances from his lifestyle. He stopped using CBD and THC recently which has had enormous positive effects on his day-to-day life. He spoke about some of the changes he has seen in an exclusive interview with MiddeEasy.

“It affects a lot of your mental health, like your confidence and how it gets you to not follow a schedule, because before it was getting late to training,” he said. “I wasn’t trusting the process, I was trying like different stuff, I was a little bit lost myself in my mind, and when I get clean, like, my brain works better. I could stick with a schedule though I could keep consistent training, I could committed more on the training camp and all my life. I could trust more and everybody around me. I feel more confident and my life just get better and all I come back to the control. The first time I tried this was three years ago, and after my fight against Misha Cirkunov my lifestyle changed a little bit a little bit messing around in my mind is a bit messy as well.”

Walker says he feels a lot better since making the change. He is on his way back to Ireland to continue training with John Kavanagh at SBG gym, and he is getting married in December. Now that he is back to his winning ways he has plans to fight again in January on the Brazil card. Things are looking up for Walker now that he has his health in order.

“It’s really strong for some people, like my brain is very sensitive to this, it was really affecting me, but I wasn’t noticed much because it’s so new a month, but every day, two, three times a day with a little bit I was kind of drugged myself for like three years and I couldn’t feel but was really affected because my brain is very sensitive. I was fighting with my girlfriend, I was doing everything to like, normally shocking life, and then when I stop and I just get back control of my life.”

Walker has much more he wants to accomplish in the UFC light heavyweight division. He has title aspirations and now that he has straightened out his life and health he could be on his way to the top.
