Johnny Walker is a new fighter going into UFC 279.

Walker returns to action when he takes on the hard-hitting Ion Cutelaba in a light heavyweight bout at UFC 279 this weekend.

With four losses in his last five, Walker is looking to not only return to the win column, but deliver a decisive performance.

That’s something he feels he can do — especially now that he has stopped consuming CBD products and the THC that comes with it.

Little did Walker know that it was all having a negative influence on him throughout the years.

“It’s nothing against the CBD, it’s just myself, my brain, don’t react good,” Walker said on media day (via MMA Junkie). “Other people’s maybe, but my brain – maybe I have ADHD. Then when I have the CBD, the CBD should calm me down. But the little percent is good. Every CBD have a little bit of THC. The THC f*cked me up. I get paranoid, I don’t trust nobody. I get late for training, I don’t follow schedule. It f*cked my life.

“I didn’t know that. I was drugging myself for the last three years and I didn’t notice. Now I know and I stopped taking.”

Walker was one of the most exciting and promising prospects when he first entered the UFC.

However, his stock has dropped remarkably in recent years and his last knockout loss didn’t help.

That said, the Brazilian believes knockouts can happen to anyone, especially at this level.

He has since worked hard on his boxing and defense, and is ready to display his improvements against Cutelaba.

“My last fight wasn’t the way I like, to get knocked out,” Walker said. “But we fight against the best in the world. It can happen to anyone. Anyone in the top 15 have the power and the skill to knock even the champ out. So I’ve been working really on my boxing and my defense. All of the skills. And of course all the techniques for the Cutelaba fight so I can ready for him.”

As for the fight, Walker doesn’t expect an early finish. But neither does he expect the judges to play a role.

“Not quick, but I don’t think the referee (judges) is going to decide for us,” Walker added.
