We tried to interview the alien lifeform inhabiting James Thompson’s ear but it clung onto our face, laid eggs inside our bodies and exploded out of our chest. Note to self: Buy the Alien Quadrilogy DVD set, which is a lame name for such a cool collection. Watching Aliens III is like watching that split second when Kimbo Slice burst open Thompson’s ear, thus giving birth to a new lifeform that probably gives James life advice whenever he finds himself between a rock and a hardplace (and an alien lifeform). Despite losing his last four fights, Thompson says that since he’s been training with London Shootfighters his MMA game has drastically improved. Now Strikeforce has picked up James Thompson as a much needed (and welcomed) addition to their heavyweight roster:
“I was offered King Mo (Lawal) a while back for them and it is a fight that I feel would suit me given his style and wrestling ability, but it hasn’t quite come to fruition yet. Strikeforce are a really switched on promotion and are comfortable with me fighting in other places, so once I have the ring rust blasted off, we should be looking at that fight soon enough,”
James Thompson always seemed like a dude that had the right gameplan but would always get caught with a wild punch that would send him to the mat. He’s still my favorite British heavyweight (right alongside Mustapha Al-Turk) and he’s the only guy that can functionally lead a life with an extraterrestrial attached to his ear. Kudos. [Source]
