Bad news. Jack Black won’t be walking out with Stephen Thompson after all.
The Cancellation
The famous actor and musician was supposed to be at UFC Orlando this weekend to support the former title challenger for his fight against Kevin Holland. Black was even given the green light to walk to the Octagon alongside Thompson while his song ‘Wonderboy’ played throughout the Amway Center.
However, things don’t always go according to plan… especially in this sport. On Wednesday, Thompson revealed he had to walk back his plans for his legendary walk-out with Black due to scheduling conflicts.
“It was going to happen,” Thompson said at the UFC Orlando media day. “I know he was on tour, so he told me that he’s gonna be able to make it out, but then he realized he wasn’t gonna be able to. He hit me up a few days ago. I was like, ‘Hey, I’m not gonna be able to make it out there, but I’ll be watching you from California’. And I was like, no worries man. You do your thing.
“So, it’s pretty cool that he was thinking about me, especially enough to actually get in touch with me and let me know. It is just really cool to be able to meet one of my all-time greatest actors and musicians.”
A Fan Forever
Known in MMA as the ‘NMF’, Thompson wouldn’t take Black’s cancellation to heart and will continue to rep ‘Tenacious D’ for his walk-out song till the end of the time.
“How dare you! Put something else on!” Thompson joked about Black not being there. “No, not at all. I will always and forever be walking out to ‘Wonderboy’ by Tenacious D.”
