A light heavyweight headliner between Thiago Santos and Jamahal Hill is taking place now (Saturday, August 6, 2022) at UFC Vegas 59.
Round 1
Santos with a leg kick. He follows it up with a heavy one soon after before failing with a single leg attempt. Hill advances forward and blocks a quick head kick from Santos. Santos connects with a big left but Hill eats it. Hill is starting to walk Santos down. Santos shoots and has Hill up against the fence. Hill is defending well as they exchange clinch strikes. The action is paused after a knee strike to the groin of Santos. The action resumes. Hill’s head kick is evaded. Santos goes kick heavy. Santos misses with a spinning wheel kick. They both exchange in the pocket to end the round.
Round 2
Hill with a couple of early leg kicks. One of them draws a big reaction from Santos. Santos blocks a head kick before seeing his body kick blocked. Santos connects with a big body kick. Santos times a takedown well and gets Hill down. However, Hill gets up right away and has to defend another takedown attempt. There’s a big flurry after Santos misses with a spinning wheel kick. Hill finds plenty of success. They’re not swinging big and landing as well! Both fighters show impressive chins. Santos just about evades a high kick. Santos misses with a telegraphed left. Hill lands a right hook as Santos is slowing down. Santos with a calf kick though. Hill with a big right hook. Both fighters land and eat shots to end the round.
Round 3
Santos shoots and manages to get Hill down. However, Hill gets back up right away. Santos gets him down again but loses the position as he looks to take his back. Santos shoots once again but Hill sprawls. Santos doesn’t give up and manages to get Hill down and manages to keep him down for much longer this time. Santos transitions to taking the back and lands a big knee to the leg. Santos continues to control and land strikes on Hill. Hill with some heavy knees though. They separate before Santos goes for another takedown. Hill is clinched up against the fence and lands a knee. Santos takes him down to end the round.
Round 4
Santos with some body kicks. Hill starts to walk him down and they engage in a temporary fire fight. Hill continues to throw and hurts Santos. Santos fires back but eventually falls to the ground. Hill lands plenty of ground and pound but Santos shows signs of life. However, Hill continues his onslaught before referee Herb Dean eventually stops it.
Official Result: Jamahal Hill defeats Thiago Santos via knockout (R4, 2:31).
