While you were watching USA beat Canada in some weird game called ‘Hockey’, Strikeforce finalized some announcements regarding their next CBS televised fight card on April 17th. Dan Henderson will headline the card in a title fight with Jake Shields, Bobby Lashley will make an appearance vs. the always-elusive “TBA”, and Herschel Walker is considering a step up in competition after annihilating Greg Nagy last month.
Scott Coker is aware of Jose Canseco’s shenanigans, and acknowledges that Jose trains with Cesar Gracie’s camp, but he won’t entertain a fight between the Jose Canseco and Herschel Walker.
“That’s not going to happen. I know he wants to fight and he trained with Cesar Gracie, but I don’t think he’s training with Cesar anymore.”
While on the subject of old guys looking for one more chance at glory, Coker said he doesn’t want Strikeforce to be the place for UFC cast-offs. Asked if he’s interested in Mark Coleman and Frank Trigg, both of whom were released after losing fights this month, Coker said,
“No, I’m not. No. I would say no.”
That’s what he said about Canseco as well.
This doesn’t mean these two won’t fight, it just means that we’ll probably have to stay up until 5:00am to watch it go down in Japan or scour the internet for a low quality web video surrounded by ads for porn and male enhancement in the margins. It’s the price we pay for being pirates. [Source]
