Henry Cejudo Likens ‘Privileged’ Paddy Pimblett to Sean O’Malley After UFC 282 Win: ‘It’s Not A Popularity Contest’

Henry Cejudo is not happy with the judges who scored Paddy Pimblett’s fight at UFC 282.

Pimblett marked his return to action against Jared Gordon in the co-main event last weekend. He managed to come out on top of the judges’ scorecards after a close-fought war that many believe should have gone Gordon’s way. Fans and fighters expressed their disapproval of the result online while ‘The Baddy’ saw no issue with it.

Henry Cejudo likened Paddy Pimblett to Sean O’Malley after UFC 282

In a recent video uploaded on his YouTube channel, former two-division champion Henry Cejudo gave his take on Pimblett’s controversial win and likened it to Sean O’Malley’s victory over Petr Yan at UFC 280 two months ago.

“That’s ridiculous, that’s just (at a loss for words). Sean O’Malley, and this freaking dude, talk about freakin privilege man. That’s crazy!

“‘Paddy the Fatty,’ I just don’t know what to say. A lot of these guys are just delusional thinking they’re better than what they really are. He lost that fight. I think he needs to rewatch it, or maybe I need to rewatch it, but I think the whole world saw that that’s one of the worst decisions ever. I mean he got hooked, just the left hook alone, at least a total of 30 to 40 times. That’s a lot! Jared wasn’t able to drop him so kudos to Paddy.

“Talk about just complete robbery. It has nothing to do really with Paddy. It has to do with the judges. This isn’t a popularity contest. First they did it with Sean O’Malley against Petr Yan.”

Cejudo says Pimblett would not stand a chance against Ilia Topuria

Pimblett shares a heated rivalry with featherweight Ilia Topuria stemming from his comments regarding the conflict between Georgia and Russia that appeared to have racist connotations. Topuria scored a dominant win over Bryce Mitchell on the same night and expressed his willingness to compete against Pimblett.

According to ‘Triple C,’ Pimblett does not stand much of a chance against Topuria.

“Ilia Topuria would hurt him, absolutely hurt him. He’d be in big, big trouble. But I don’t think Paddy wants that, and I don’t think the UFC wants to do that, Or they may want to do that after they saw that damn performance. They may just say, ‘Hey, you know what? We might just take our money and invest it with Ilia Topuria.’

“UFC, they know what they are doing. It’s just a bummer that the sport has to deal with a guy; he’s not even a high-level fighter and he gets a co-main event. It’s almost like they’re really trying to push somebody too, too premature or doesn’t have the full capability, the full talent. That was just a terrible decision from the judges’ standpoint.”

Henry Cejudo is expected to challenge reigning bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, in his comeback in early 2023.
