It wasn’t easy but Paddy Pimblett got his hand raised at UFC 282.
‘The Baddy’ would face his most difficult test to date in Jared Gordon in ‘Sin City’ on Saturday. The two fighters would trade on the feet for the most part in the first two rounds of the lightweight matchup.
The Fight
The opening round was very competitive between Gordon and Pimblett, but Gordon did land more strikes and more effective ones at that. But, Pimblett would bounce back in round 2 where he picked up some momentum of his own in the striking department.
In round 3, Gordon changed up the game plan by making the fight a grueling one for Pimblett. ‘Flash’ would slow Pimblett down with his wrestling and pressed Pimblett towards the cage While Gordon didn’t do too much damage, he did establish control in the clinch for the majority of the round.
The fight would then go the distance. Despite Gordon’s success in the striking and wrestling department, Pimblett would get his hand raised after all, to the disagreement of many fans.
Pimblett was confident he had done enough to win the contest after 3 rounds.
“That wasn’t close,” Pimblett said in his post-fight interview. “I won the first two rounds and coasted in the third. Knew I was two rounds up so didn’t want to do anything too dangerous.”
