Henry Cejudo has some advice for Alex Volkanovski after “The Great” suffered a first-round knockout loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 294.

Volkanovski, the reigning UFC featherweight champion, stepped up on short notice when Charles Oliveira was forced out of his planned rematch with Makhachev. While their first meeting was highly competitive, Makhachev left no doubt in the rematch. A head kick from the Dagestan bruiser dropped Volkanovski. Makhachev sealed the deal with some follow-up punches on the ground.

Henry Cejudo Has Some Advice For Alex Volkanovski

Former UFC champ-champ Henry Cejudo took to his YouTube channel and shared his belief that Alex Volkanovski should not be taking a fight with Ilia Topuria in January.

“If I’m Alexander Volkanovski, on the flip side, you know what I’m doing? I’ve gotta humble myself. I gotta allow my brain to heal for the next six months. I’ve been knocked out to the body, but being concussed or going through a knockout, it takes you a minute for you to really kind of walk that straight line. So, there’s two sides. Volk, take your damn time. I wouldn’t necessarily be in a rush.”

“Triple C” said that if Volkanovski rushes to have another fight, he could see his featherweight title reign come to an end.

“If you wanna take the fight on January 20, kudos to you, but will you win? Will you be a hundred percent? You just lost the 155-pound strap that you were gonna capture, and the last thing you wanna do is now go down and fight at 145 pounds and lose to a guy that only has 12, 13 fights.”

Cejudo mentioned Topuria’s power, and how that would be bad news for Volkanovski if he doesn’t give his brain enough time to heal.
