Henry Cejudo has some advice for Alex Pereira.
In the main event of UFC 287, Pereira was defending his middleweight title for the first time as he took on Israel Adesanya. The two fought back in November at UFC 281 with Pereira scoring a fifth-round TKO. Although it was their first fight in MMA, the two have fought twice in kickboxing with Pereira winning both, including one by KO.
Yet, on Saturday night, Adesanya got his revenge as he scored a second-round KO to become the new middleweight champ. Although Adesanya is down 3-1 overall, he has said there is no need to run it back but Cejudo thinks Pereira needs to make it clear he wants the trilogy as they are one and one in MMA and he is 3-1 overall in combat sports.
‘You have to do your job to really sell the fight’
“This is something that fighters really need to understand. Open your mouth and ask for a damn rematch. I don’t get where Alex never said anything about him fighting Israel once again,” Cejudo said on his YouTube channel about Pereia. “This is what really somewhat pisses me off. You have three wins over this guy. This guy has one win over you, now he had the right to close the chapter? No, no, because you only have fought in MMA two times and you guys are one and one. You have to go to Uncle Dana, knock on his door and be like ‘you know what Uncle Dana, be fair with me like you were with everyone else. Pretend I’m Conor for a damn minute.’
“Alex if you don’t fight for this rematch, you are going to regret it,” Cejudo continued about Pereira. “Especially after seeing Israel mocking your son and doing what he did. Bro, I’m kind of pissed off for you. You have knocked him out two of the four times you have fought. You know what I’m saying, he did get you. This is something Israel did say, he who laughs last, laughs louder… Make it a trilogy but you have to do your job to really sell the fight.”
As Henry Cejudo says, Israel Adesanya has shut down the idea of a trilogy fight being next. However, ‘Triple C’ believes Alex Pereira deserves it and needs to get on social media and in interviews telling Dana White and the UFC to make the fight.
