Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev have agreed to potentially have their rematch fight at UFC 283.

The UFC’s return to Brazil in 2023 has fighters scrambling to find an opponent so they can compete in the surreal atmosphere. One fighter that has recently mentioned wanting to fight at UFC 283 is Khamzat Chimaev.

‘Borz’ is currently 6-0 in the UFC after beating Kevin Holland at a catchweight of 180 pounds. Chimaev’s brutal weight miss led some of the MMA community to predict the 28-year-old to leave the welterweight division for middleweight. He furthered those suspicions last week by saying this on Twitter:

“Ready to fight in Brazil @AlexPereiraUFC let’s go champ”

Meanwhile, Gilbert Burns last fought against Chimaev in April, which could be the fight of the year. Burns needs an opponent for UFC 283 because it’s difficult to imagine ‘Durinho’ not fighting in Brazil. ‘Borz’ recently posted an Instagram picture with the Brazilian flag as a caption. Burns commented with interest and Chimaev responded by saying:

“If Alex not ready to be killed, let’s go du it again in Brazil 84 kg this time”

Burns showed his gameness and responded on Twitter by saying:

“Any weight @KChimaev”

Khamzat Chimaev calls out Alex Pereira

Khamzat Chimaev and his team seemed focused on returning to the welterweight division. With that said, ‘Borz’ has identified an opportunity with no guaranteed number-one middleweight contender. If Israel Adesanya needs time off, Chimaev is positioning himself for an immediate title shot at 185 pounds. The rising UFC contender had this to say on Twitter:

“@AlexPereiraUFC 10 December let’s go, i already agreed. Now it’s your turn”

Chimaev is 2-0 at middleweight in the UFC with wins against Gerald Meerschaert and John Phillips. It’s unclear what date ‘Borz’ wants to fight on, but he could be interested in fighting in December and also in January 2023. The reality is Pereira is not going to be ready for December 10th.

Gilbert Burns is beginning preparations for UFC Brazil without an official opponent

Gilbert Burns is willing to fight anyone at UFC 283. Rumors have pointed to ‘Durinho’ taking on Jorge Masvidal in Brazil, but nothing is guaranteed. Nonetheless, Burns is fully expecting to fight in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilian posted a training photo on Instagram with the caption:

“Training camp starts tomorrow #UFC283 🇧🇷”

Burns has earned the right to fight in Brazil after his gutsy performance against Khamzat Chimaev. The Brazilian crowd would lose their minds when ‘Durinho’ walks out, and the 36-year-old isn’t looking to miss out on the opportunity. The question is, who’s willing to sign a contract against him?
