The pro MMA debut of Dylan Reischman went from exciting to horrifying in just a matter of minutes on Saturday night.
Reischman, a 21-year-old mixed martial artist out of Wilmington, North Carolina made his first walk to the cage as a professional fighter after amassing a 3-1 record as an amateur. Competing as part of a Combate Global event in Miami, Reischman squared off with Jaime Mora. The fighters were evenly matched in the opening round, but things took a very quick turn for the worse in the second when Mora shot in for a takedown near the 90-second mark.
Reischman managed to fend off the takedown but was ultimately pushed to the fence where Mora took his back. Seconds later, Mora lifted Reischman up in an attempt to slam him to the ground. During the process, Reischman’s left leg was caught under the weight of his body and immediately snapped at the knee upon impact.
You can see a clip of the gnarly injury below:

Recognizing what happened, Dylan Reischman immediately tapped out, informing the referee that his leg was injured. Mora backed away and looked on in horror once he had realized the extent of the injury.
Reischman was transported to a local hospital, but no updates have been provided regarding his condition.
It’s a tragic beginning to the young man’s mixed martial arts career, but here’s to hoping that he will make a full recovery and one day return to the Combate Global cage.
Ex-UFC Champ Chris Weidman Knows All Too Well What Dylan Reischman is Going Through
This is the second leg break fight fans have witnessed in as many weeks. More than two years removed from suffering his own devastating injury, former UFC middleweight world champion Chris Weidman made his return to the Octagon at UFC 292 last month. Unfortunately, Weidman’s comeback was anything but successful as ‘All-American’ was subject to a series of calf kicks over the course of 15 minutes that resulted in another fracture.
Fortunately, this latest break is nowhere near as gruesome as the first one, or the one suffered by Reischman over the weekend, but it’s another example of just how dangerous the sport of mixed martial arts can be at every level.
