It’s interesting to see how many MMA fans never tuned into Showtime on June 26th 2010 and felt the bizarrely painful bundle of emotions that filled every MMA fan on the planet when Fabricio Werdum submitted a fighter that some people even questioned was actually human. If you weren’t an MMA fan on or before that date, then I hate to say but you can’t really call yourself an MMA fan. I mean you can follow the sport and witness some cool things still, but there will never be another moment in MMA history in which a fighter of Fedor’s legendary stature will be finished, but not only finished, willingly gave up.
Everyone that counted Werdum out in this match simply forgot that single moment in MMA history. We should never count out Werdum, he comes from that same rare lineage of MMA with guys like Dan Henderson. Hendo and Werdum never upset, people just forget how amazing they truly are.
After absolutely decimating Travis Browne for all of five rounds, a judge somehow gave Browne one round, and it will probably be nominated as one of the most mysterious moments of 2014.
In the end, we finally have Werdum vs. Velasquez for the UFC heavyweight championship, and that should endlessly intrigue you. Props to ZProphet for the .gif.
