No. 2 women’s flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield weighed in on the controversial ending of Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko’s rematch at Noche UFC.

Crazy yet Competitive

Speaking to The Schmo, “Cold Blooded” explained that she thinks that overall, the title fight rematch was unreal as Grasso and Shevchenko were evenly matched. However, Blanchfield insisted that “Bullet” should’ve gotten the decision.

“That was a crazy fight. Sitting there, I thought Valentina won,” Blanchfield said. “I thought she did enough. I’ll definitely have to watch it back and see, but crazy fight. I’d have to watch it back to kind of remember what happened each round and see what girl capitalized on what but in the moment, I thought Valentina won.”

“It was super competitive. I feel like they both made some adjustments from the last fight, they’re just super even, I feel like every time they fight, they’re gonna have hard fight against each other,” he continued.

“I don’t think it was a 10-8,” Blanchfield said of the 10-8 scorecard in the final round. “Valentina was maybe covering up for a little bit too long. It did look bad in the moment, but I don’t think it was a 10-8.”

Erin strongly believes she’s next

Shevchenko has yet to call for an immediate rematch and it seems to be in favor of Blanchfield, who insists of being sure that she’s next in line. Another potential title challenger is No. 3 contender Manon Fiorot. For “Cold Blooded,” a title eliminator bout with Fiorot is also not a big deal.

“I feel like I definitely should be next. Yeah, I feel like trilogies sometimes can clog up the divisions and I think putting in some new blood for the title would be super helpful,” Blanchfield pointed out. “I know Manon [Fiorot] is right behind me, so if anything, I could beat her up, too, if they did do a trilogy next, but I want to be next.”

“If they made me [fight Fiorot] yes, because I’m super confident I’ll win any fight so if I have to fight her before I fight for a title, it’s whatever and I feel like it will one thousand percent, I’d be next… there’s no controversy,” she continued.

Blanchfield has been undefeated in the UFC and is coming off another huge win over Taila Santos at UFC Singapore. She has been yearning for a title match with Grasso and it seems like there’s a great chance Blanchfield could be the next candidate as the reigning champ already said she is open to facing a new and fresh opponent.
