Chatri took to his official FB page on Tuesday morning, where he welcomes the Eddie Alvarez to One Championship.

Please join me in welcoming Eddie Alvarez (29-6) to ONE Championship! Eddie is not only one of the greatest lightweights in history, but he is the only athlete ever to win world titles in both UFC and Bellator. His goal is to become the only person to win all 3 major world titles in the largest global promotions in history. Eddie has fought and beaten some of the greatest martial artists and world champions on the planet, including Rafael dos Anjos, Anthony Pettis, Michael Chandler, Gilbert Melendez, Shinya Aoki, Patricky Freire, Roger Huerta, and many others. BOOM!!!

On a personal level, I am super excited for our fans to witness Eddie’s high octane, explosive dynamite KO style. Without a doubt, Eddie brings it every time. Who would you like to see Eddie fight first? Let me know!

It’s time for some 🔥🔥🔥 !!!

Founder and CEO Sityodtong hinted at “one of the biggest athlete signings” in the history of the promotion.

One Championship did not reveal an opponent or particular date of a fight for Alvarez’s debut.

Alvarez received offers from the UFC and Bellator, but nothing comes to fruition.

Alvarez signed with the UFC back in 2014 and lost his octagon debut against Donald Cerrone via unanimous decision.

Alvarez holds a professional record of 29-6 (1 NC) and wins over the likes of Shinya Aoki, Michael Chandler, Anthony Pettis, Rafael Dos Anjos, and Gilbert Melendez.

Former champion ended his UFC tenure with a pro-record of 4-3 with one no contest, with a highly controversial decision against top contender Dustin Poirier that set up a rematch at UFC on FOX 30. Poirier went on to win the bout via second-round TKO.

ONE Championship currently without a 155-pound champion after dual champ Martin Nguyen was forced to relinquish the title due to injury. Alvarez’s signs at the right time that could put him in a title picture.

What do you think of Alvarez signing with ONE Championship?
