Eddie Alvarez is not expecting the fight between Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor to be close.

One of the most anticipated fights coming up later this year is the TUF showdown between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler. These two were chosen to coach the new season of The Ultimate Fighter and already there has been some animosity there. McGregor has been away from the UFC for almost two years. During that time he removed himself from the USADA testing pool, filmed a movie, and worked on healing up from an injury. Now that he is back he will be taking on Chandler in a fight that many are interested in.

Chandler had been calling for this fight against McGregor and believes he can win. One man who has faced both of these fighters is Eddie Alvarez and now he is giving his thoughts on the matchup.

Eddie Alvarez does not see Michael Chandler winning against Conor McGregor

Eddie Alvarez is moving on to a new part of his career. He recently announced that he is signing on to Bare Knuckle FC. While a guest on The MMA Hour to discuss the new move he was asked about the matchup between McGregor and Chandler. He is in a unique position by having faced them both in his career and he sees it being McGregor winning the bout.

“Mike Chandler don’t wrestle so I mean if he stands with Conor, Conor’s gonna knock him out,” he said “It’s a mismatch because Mike Chandler’s defense sucks. He doesn’t have good defense. Boxing, he throws bombs but Conor’s way too fast and way too quick to get hit with anything Mike Chandler is throwing so I feel like I don’t know. I feel like Mike needs to wrestle him and wrestle quickly and use that and if he doesn’t, it’s gonna be a bad night for him.”

Alvarez also relayed the fact that he has been trying to get one more fight with Chandler. They fought each other twice before in Bellator, with one win a piece. He might be trying to build up a feud with Chandler in order to set a trilogy fight, or he may just truly believe that it will be McGregor who is victorious whenever it is they meet.
