Eddie Alvarez wants to put unfinished business with Nate Diaz to rest.

Former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez is embarking on a new journey in his combat sports career. Alvarez is the newest member of the Bare Knuckle FC roster. The news of his signing came along with the announcement of a massive fight card taking place later this month. Along with “The Underground King,” BKFC signed another former UFC champ, Luke Rockhold and the pair will be featured in the same card.

Alvarez seems to have done it all in his MMA career. He was the champion of several different organizations and is now seeking success in BKFC. Alvarez will be taking on Chad Mendes in his promotional debut but has his sights set on someone else, someone whom he has a standing beef with.

Eddie Alvarez wants BKFC to sign Nate Diaz so that can finally fight him

Alvarez was unclear on whether he would return to MMA in the future or stick with bare-knuckle. He did however mention a free agent that would interest him to remain with BKFC, that man is Nate Diaz.

“Nate Diaz, without a doubt,” he said to MMA Junkie. “I just think we were in the same way class. I’ve asked for him a number of times during my MMA career, during my UFC career. It never came to fruition, timing, title shots, you name it, wrong opponents. Nate Diaz is the only guy that I would want. I would only say, hey, can we sign this guy and bring him over here? I think he’d transition well over to here with that real gangster whatever he wants to be style, Ithink it’ll do good here and I think that’s the only opponent that I would want to fight. Don’t really have a desire to fight anyone besides him.”

Diaz recently left the UFC in search of more lucrative opportunities. He has been mentioned in talks to try boxing against the Paul brothers and has been courted by BKFC. Alvarez is citing past indiscretions with Diaz that warrant a fight in the ring.

“I almost fought Nate in Mexico when I was fighting Gilbert Melendez. I confronted him in Mexico City, about grilling me and doing some weird little kid bullshit, and we got into it, and then UFC broke it all up,” he said. “But yeah, we never got to hash that out. And I beat up his teammate, so I thought after I beat Melendez that maybe that would warrant a fight against him, but still he never fought me. So I think this is the right stage. It’s just the right opportunity to get this done. He’s a free agent. I’m over here and I would love to fight someone like him.”

Alvarez vs. Mendes will take place on the BKFC 41 card in Denver, Colorado on April 29. The event will be headlined by Mike Perry vs. Luke Rockhold.
