Dricus Du Plessis thinks Jon Jones will get the dub in his return.

The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion is set to make his comeback at UFC 285 after three long years, colliding with striking extraordinaire Ciryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight title.

Du Plessis On Jones’ Legacy

Jones is already considered one of the best, if not, THE best to ever to do it in MMA because he has taken out generations of light heavyweights and has never really been defeated in his long, legendary career. Should ‘Bones’ break through and grab another belt this weekend, Du Plessis believes Jones will cement his legacy once and for all as the greatest fighter of all time.

“One-hundred percent,” Du Plessis told Middle Easy, when asked if Jones would win at UFC 285. “I think Jon Jones is coming back to [win]. I can be biased, I’m a massive fan, always have been. I honestly think we’re gonna be shocked.

“For him there’s such— the odds are so high. The stakes are extremely high for him to come here and just prove goat status. In my opinion, he is for now, the GOAT of MMA. And I honestly believe that after this win, there’s no more denying that.”

‘He Has Too Much Tools’

It’s a tall task ahead of Jon Jones in his heavyweight debut as he faces fellow 6’4 fighter and interim champ Ciryl Gane. However, Du Plessis doesn’t think ‘Bon Gamin’ and the rest of the division can handle what Jones is bringing to the table.

“I think he has too much tools for the heavyweights at this stage,” Du Plessis explained. “I think the heavyweights just don’t move the way it does. They don’t have as many weapons in the arsenal because they’ve always been able to rely on their power.”

We’ll see if Dricus Du Plessis is correct in his prediction, come Saturday at UFC 285. DDP will also fight Derek Brunson on Jon Jones’ undercard this weekend.
