Jon Jones has detailed why he will emerge victorious against Ciryl Gane.

After three years of inactivity, Jones is making his Octagon return on March 4 at UFC 285. ‘Bones’ will fight in the heavyweight division for the first time, and he’s jumping into the deep end against a former interim champion. The 35-year-old will have added pressure as the vacant heavyweight championship is up for grabs against Gane.

During an interview posted on the UFC’s YouTube channel, Jones had this to say about his matchup against ‘Bon Gamin’:

“I believe in my fight IQ, I believe in my defense, my offense. I believe in my fight experience. I’d put that up against any fighter on this planet. The more time you give me, the more reads I’m able to make, the more I’m able to realize what’s going on and what I have to do to win…”

Jones continued by saying:

“I would say a guy like Ciryl Gane is a better stylistic matchup for a guy like me. He’s gonna try to play the game with me, he’s gonna try to play chess. Most guys fail when they play that with me, all guys have failed when they play that with me.”

‘Bones’ has become one of the greatest fighters of all time by combining his athletic gifts with an unmatched fight IQ. Meanwhile, Gane has found success by being a composed, athletic heavyweight that continues to evolve. The question is, how will ‘Bones’ adjust to his new weight class?

Jon Jones labels the heavyweight division as the most prestigious

The heavyweight division has always been the pinnacle of fighting. There has recently been a decrease in elite heavyweight talent in the UFC, but Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane are bringing back the prestige. Jones recently had this to say about his attraction to his new division:

“In my opinion, the heavyweight champion of the world is the most prestigious weight class. It means the most knowing that you’re one of the baddest men walking on the planet. It keeps me really excited.”

On March 4, Jones has an opportunity to arguably separate himself at the MMA GOAT. On the contrary, Gane is looking to start building his legacy by becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion. All eyes will be on this highly-anticipated matchup, which goes down in the UFC 285 main event at the T-Mobile Arena.
