‘King’ Bobby Green stepped back into the Octagon on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 66. It was the first time back in the cage for Green since his short-notice loss to current UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev. Meeting Green was budding lightweight contender Drew Dober who looked to make it three in a row after scoring back-to-back knockouts against Terrance McKinney and Rafael Alves.

Round 1

Dober leads with a calf kick and Green returns fire with a front kick up the middle. After a brief exchange, Dober moves in for a takedown, but Green is able to reverse position and get on top. Dober scrambles to his feet and the fighters reset. Green lands a left and eats a leg kick in return. Green utilizes kicks to keep Dober at distance and lands a left followed by a solid body kick. Dober is headhunting, but Green is piecing him up, landing multiple rights. A leg kick by Dober takes Green off balance briefly. Green puts his hands down, taunting Dober. Green is landing at will, but Dober answers with a stiff left. Dober continues to move forward, but Green is able to avoid the danger, acknowledging Dober’s corner advice in the process.

Round 2

Both fighters pick up right where they left off, trading strikes along the fence of the Octagon. Dober lands a powerful left hand. Dober delivers a massive spinning back fist and that connects. Dober briefly clinches against the fence before backing off. Green lands a body kick followed by a short right. The left lands for Dober and then another. Dober has Green moving along the fence and uncorks a massive left hand that drops Green and forces the referee to step in immediately.
