Darren Till Misses Weight For UFC Fight Night 130 Main Event 130 By 3.5 pounds

Rising UFC welterweight contender Darren Till missed weight this morning (Sat., May 26, 2018) for his scheduled UFC Fight Night 130 main headliner bout against former title contender Stephen Thompson by 3.5 lbs.

This is the second time Darren Till has missed weight for a UFC contest, having tipped the scales five pounds over for his UFC Fight Night 109 prelim bout against Jessin Ayari.

Due to missed weight, Till forfeit 30 percent of his total purse including bonuses to former two-time title challenger Thompson who successfully made weight, coming in at 171 pounds. UFC Officials said that Till was given an extra hour to weigh in due to a family emergency, initially missed the two-hour deadline set for the fighters to weigh in before stepping on the scales at 174.5 pounds.

Thompson agreed to fight Till on few conditions as of this writing, Till must weigh 188 pounds or less for his second weigh-in on Sunday before the fight. The additional weigh-in will happen at 1 p.m.

“Listen, Till called us out! He’s been a bit disrespectful during the course of promoting this fight. We came across the world, into HIS HOME TOWN, in front of HIS PEOPLE, AND WE MAD WEIGHT! Stephen is a fighter and would never want to disappoint the fans (short of illness) and came to fight! His management is working out the details,” Ray Thompson, Stephen Thompson’s father, to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani.

After the weigh-ins Till expresses his apology:

“I want to apologize for missing weight,” Till said. “S**t happens… I know I can finish Stephen Thompson.”

What do you think we will able to see their fight tomorrow?
