Daniel Cormier Says Third Stipe Fight Will Be Final Fight

Daniel Cormier has confirmed his intent to have a trilogy fight with Stipe Miocic. More than that, he says it will be his final bout.

Daniel Cormier lost his UFC Heavyweight title to Stipe Miocic at UFC 241, around a month and a half ago. This fight was a rematch of their first fight, in which Cormier was the victor, earning that title. However, in the fourth round of this rematch, he faltered, getting finished by strikes.

The big question following this loss, was whether or not Cormier would fight again. He had already stayed longer than he intended, waiting for a fight with Brock Lesnar. Subsequently, when this happened, he was unsure about the future of his career. In an interview with ESPN, Cormier has announced that he wants to fight Stipe one more time. However, that fight will be the end.

I’m gonna fight this guy again. My intention is to fight him in the right way and hopefully, that’s enough to get my hand raised. But I’ll go fight him again. Win or lose, I’m not fighting again. This will be the only time I ever step foot in the Octagon again.

The next one will be the last one. It has to be Stipe. No one else matters.”

Cormier then confirmed that this fight is something the UFC is interested in. However, there is not a date in mind yet. Although he does say that he would be interested in a fight in December, at the end of the year card.

If this truly is the last fight for Daniel Cormier, he has truly had a legendary career.
