Daniel Cormier is taking a look at the proposed heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.
Daniel Cormier sees a scary scenario in which nobody can beat Jon Jones
For many years Jones has been dominating the light heavyweight division. In many people’s eyes, he is the greatest of all time when it comes to MMA fighters. Now he may be up against his toughest task in Miocic. Cormier takes a look at the skill set of both men in his latest YouTube video.
“So to say that Miocic will be tougher, all you got to do is go for two minutes and 20 seconds and it’s already tougher. Miocic can box, Miocic can wrestle, he wrestled at Cleveland State. Miocic won the Ironman tournament and if you know wrestling, you know how tough that tournament is for high school athletes. But Jones can wrestle, Jones was a junior college national champion,” he said. “Stipe is a Golden Glove boxing guy too and Stipe has championship level experience. I think that is probably going to be the thing that allows for him to compete better than most.”
He sees how Miocic and his skill set both on the ground and standing can be a very difficult test for Jones. Many people were curious as to how Jones would look after bulking up and moving to heavyweight. His fight with Gane did not last long enough for fans or opponents to get a good look. Now Cormier is pondering if anybody will actually beat Jones at heavyweight.
“I stated Stipe will be tougher but let me pose this question to you, say Jones does what he promises again, dominates Stipe then the question becomes who can challenge him in this division?” he asked. “Scary thought.”
Some may say that the man who gave Jones a tough time during his career was Cormier. Unfortunately, he is retired and that fight will never happen again. At this pace, Jones may be retiring soon as well and he may be doing so undefeated at heavyweight.
