Daniel Cormier congratulated Francis Ngannou on securing a life-changing boxing match against Tyson Fury.

After over a year of receiving criticism, Ngannou proved his decision to leave the UFC was the right decision. The former heavyweight world champion officially landed a boxing match against Fury, scheduled for October 28 in Saudi Arabia.

‘The Predator’ has been doubted and ridiculed for his decision to turn down a massive contract offered by the UFC. Now that he’s signed a contract with ‘The Gypsy King,’ the combat sports community congratulated Ngannou for betting on himself.

During a recent episode of DC& RC, Cormier discussed Ngannou’s upcoming fight by saying:

“Do you have to be a little bit naive to go out in that world like that and know your value to the point that you will, even when it looked dark, to stand on your loyal and go, it’ll happen for me. Francis had just enough of that, and now he finds himself, he’s gonna make more money than he ever could have imagined making in his entire life because, guess what? They’re fighting in Saudi Arabia, which, somehow, literally just bought the PGA. ”

‘DC’ continued by congratulating Ngannou:

“It’s a crazy, crazy turn of events for Francis Ngannou, but we are both insanely happy for him. I wanna be wrong in this situation. I’m happy that he’s getting paid in that way.”

Ngannou last fought in January 2022, defeating Ciryl Gane by unanimous decision to defend his UFC heavyweight title. Since then, ‘The Predator’ has endured contract negotiations with the UFC, ridicule from Dana White, and life-changing deals with Fury and the PFL.

Daniel Cormier explains why Francis Ngannou will likely fight for PFL despite making life-changing money

Before signing a contract with Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou signed a historic deal with the PFL. The partnership featured various benefits for ‘The Predator,’ but the problem for the MMA promotion is Ngannou won’t fight in the Smartcage until after his boxing match.

During the same episode of DC&RC, Daniel Cormier expressed his concern for Ngannou potentially never fighting for the PFL:

“You go fight Tyson Fury in a boxing match because, ultimately, if you fight Tyson Fury, you have to give in to whatever he wants. Is Francis Ngannou ever gonna fight in the PFL? Or do you think this is one of those situations where he makes so much money, he might be done?”

Cormier continued by explaining why Ngannou should fight for the PFL:

“He’s gonna be a part of the pay-per-views when the PFL makes him fight or when they get him the fight. Does fighting Tyson Fury elevate his star power to the point that he can come back and headline pay-per-views against guys that the PFL have? Maybe they don’t do 300, 400, 500, 600 thousand buys, but, I’m pretty sure, he’ll get money on pay-per-view number one, so if he sells 200,000 pay-per-views, dude is making a ton of money.”

The reality is that Ngannou will have a lot more money once it’s time to make his PFL debut. Only time will tell if ‘The Predator’ sticks to his word and fights in the Smartcage after his highly-anticipated fight against Fury.
