Daniel Cormier still is shocked to see the rise of Alex Pereira.

Cormier knew Pereira would be extremely dangerous on the feet, but thought he would get exposed on the ground. However, that hasn’t been the case, as instead, he became the middleweight and light heavyweight champion.

To see Pereira win titles in two different weight classes in just two years and seven UFC fights is something Cormier hasn’t seen before.

“I’ve never seen anything like that. Never in my life… He beats your leg up and then he forces you to make a mistake, every single time,” Cormier said on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

Daniel Cormier says Alex Pereira is Thanos

Alex Pereira is coming off a knockout win over Jiri Prochazka to win the light heavyweight title in November. It was a great performance and Daniel Cormier is now comparing the Brazilian to Marvel’s Thanos who’s collecting Infinity Stones and becoming a force to be reckoned with.

“My cousin had the greatest analogy for Pereira. He goes, he is Thanos, literally just collecting f*****g Infinity Stones. I love Marvel. It was like when Thanos showed up and he’s just collecting Infinity Stones. There’s a timeline, you know, there’s a bad guy and (another) bad guy and then there’s this ultimate bad guy, who is just in some f*****g bar in Brazil and Izzy had to open his mouth. If Izzy would’ve just shut the f**k up, Pereira would have stayed where he was. But I mean it’s like a delayed it’s like delayed reaction on the kick but if Izzy would have just shut up this dude would have stayed in Brazil.

“That dude is so sneaky with that kick and if you get too close he’s going to punch you. Yeah well he’s so long and he’s also so odd in his striking movements. He’s like this tall he’s tall they’re very odd and he’s like and if you get close it’s the right hand even that thing. He does when he’s walking out and he does this real thing and he throws his combination it doesn’t look fluid he’s like boom boom boom but you know like if that dude hits you with that you going to sleep you.” Cormier said.

Of course, Israel Adesanya did an interview saying Alex Pereira would be the guy to brag about his win over him in kickboxing to people in a bar as he couldn’t do what he did in MMA. Pereira says he saw that interview which made him make the move to MMA and he ended up knocking out Adesanya in their first meeting in MMA.

“I don’t know how Izzy beat that [Pereira] dude man because caught him perfect he caught him. If that fight would have kept going, I don’t think Izzy was going to win, he was hurting Izzy bad that leg was f*cked up already it was done yeah it’s crazy how good he is at that it takes like two or three.

“He [Pereira] never seemed drained at 185.” Dc said. “How is he making that weight though and now when he’s fighting at 205 he’s like it’s seemingly more durable. He looks the same yeah he does not 20 lbs lighter he looks the same he does how big he was when he was fighting this guy had to be getting up to 215.”

Pereira is expected to defend his light heavyweight title for the first time against Jamahal Hill sometime next year.
