- Dana White gave a blunt response to the recent incident involving Conor McGregor and the Miami Heat mascot
- The UFC boss simply thinks the people behind the act should’ve been smarter and more responsible
UFC president Dana White is not surprised that the real person behind the Miami Heat mascot who took a punch from Conor McGregor ended up getting hospitalized. For White, it was just a consequence of doing something that was not advisable.
It is What it is
Speaking to his UFC 289 post-fight press conference, White said it wasn’t the first time a mascot got punched by a professional fighter and there’s really nothing serious to talk about. The UFC boss implied that such stunts could be dangerous, so why did the Heat mascot do it in the first place.
“I saw the Deontay Wilder one too. What’s up with mascots getting punched in the face by professional fighters? What do you expect?,” White pointed out. “What are those mascot things made out of, unless you’re like the Golden Knights mascot. I don’t even know what the hell he wears but I’m assuming it’s a metal helmet.”
“I wouldn’t have professional fighters punch me in the face if I was a mascot, doesn’t seem like the brightest thing in the world,” he continued.

Conor May have had too Much Fun
Based on how things played out at Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Heat and the Denver Nuggets, it’s easy to see that everything was staged. However, judging by how hard McGregor hit and how realistic the Heat mascot a.k.a. “Burnie” got knocked out, there’s really a great chance the person inside the costume got hurt.
A previous report stated that the man was sent to a local hospital shortly after the incident. It was later reported that he fortunately did not sustain serious injuries.
