Dana White Shares His Thoughts Of Conor McGregor, Talks His Return
Conor McGregor has not had a bout scheduled since his November loss, at UFC 229. UFC President Dana White sheds some light on Conor’s situation.
There have been many false starts since Conor lost to Khabib last year. When he was finished serving an athletic commission suspension, he flirted with the idea of several bouts. Names from Tony Ferguson, to Donald Cerrone have been thrown around.
Although the official return has yet to be decided, Dana White spoke with BT Sport, to talk about where things stand for McGregor.
“You know, Conor’s in a position where he’s sitting back right now and I think waiting to see how this whole thing plays out with these guys, but he should pop back up soon.”
White was then asked about the rumor that McGregor has turned down a fight with Justin Gaethje. Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz was the one to first mention this happening.
“No. Conor hasn’t turned down anything….listen. Ali can say whatever. Conor doesn’t turn down fights period. Conor has been one of the most stand up….when things get crazy and most people pull out of fight, Conor McGregor stays in. McGregor isn’t afraid to fight anyone. So that is absolutely false.”
White seems pretty firm in the idea that no fight was turned down. However, as for a timeline, White seems to think that McGregor will return sooner rather than later.
“Yeah, I think we’ll see him this year.”
Do you guys think Dana White is right, and Conor will return this year? Who should he fight in his UFC return?
