Dana White Confirms Ferguson Is Next In Line For Lightweight Title Shot

The UFC’s lightweight division has been log-jammed since the arrival of Conor McGregor. However, according to Dana White, things will finally start getting back to normal soon.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is the UFC’s undisputed lightweight champion. He is set to unify his belt against Dustin Poirier, at UFC 242. However, waiting in the wings is Tony Ferguson, who was in interim champ, himself. Despite that, he never lost his title, only got it stripped due to injury. He is on a literal record setting run at lightweight, of 12 straight wins.

Although UFC President Dana White has been aloof of the whole thing, there is no doubt that Ferguson deserves a title shot. He and Khabib had been slated to fight several times, but both parties have been forced to withdraw. The only thing looming that could stop this from happening, is a rematch between Khabib and Conor McGregor.

McGregor and Khabib had a toxic rivalry that boiled over on several occasions. The two would finally meet at UFC 229, with Khabib walking away with the victory. However, this PPV sold over 2 million buys, bigger than any other UFC PPV in history. This lucrative offer is what makes people question Dana White on if Conor would get the shot ahead of Ferguson.

Despite this, White spoke to TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter, to express that Ferguson is ahead of Conor in line for a UFC Lightweight title shot.

“Ferguson is the one who’s next in line, Then it would be Conor. right now, that’s where he’s ranked.”

So do you believe Dana White? Or will Conor McGregor jump the line yet again?
