Dana White Talks Tony Ferguson Getting A Title Shot

There is no debate, that Tony Ferguson should by all means be fighting for a title next. However, UFC President Dana White seems to not want to say it will happen.

Tony Ferguson is fresh off a TKO over Donald Cerrone. The former interim champ is on a seven year, 12-fight unbeaten run. Subsequently, he only lost that interim belt, after a knee injury received doing UFC media.

There should be no reason for Tony Ferguson to not fight the winner of UFC 242 main event. Despite this, Dana White has yet to confirm that will happen. He was confronted about this, during a fan Q & A, where a fan commented on Tony deserving the title shot.

“when did i say that this guy didn’t deserve anything? If you do your homework on the tony ferguson thing…i mean how many times have tony ferguson and khabib been lined up to fight? it didn’t work out. he was the interim champion, he blew his knee out.”

White continued, talk about how a fight with Dustin Poirier was offered to Ferguson, for the interim title. Yet unsurprisingly, the former interim champ did not want another interim title. White tried to explain further:

“everybody’s acting like i’ve denied tony his shot at the title. it’s just that he’s had a bad stream of luck, and things haven’t gone his way.”

Although he brought up valid points, White misses the larger message. He concludes by saying that Ferguson is in a good place, but that things could change.

“We’ll see how this plays out in september, and we’ll go from there.”

Do you guys think Tony Ferguson fights for the title next? Or, will an Irish shadow pass over him once again?
