- Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh spoke about his delayed UFC return
- “Notorious” is hoping to get something official before the year concludes
Conor McGregor’s longtime coach and compatriot John Kavanagh has weighed in on the seemingly prolonged delay in his pupil’s much-awaited UFC return.
Coach John has no idea what’s going on
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Kavanagh confided that just like the rest of the MMA community, he too has no idea about what has been causing the delay in McGregor’s next fight, considering his pupil is a big-name UFC star.
“I won’t pretend to know the politics and what’s going on with legal stuff in the background,” Kavanagh said. “All I know is it seems odd that we’re not getting [any news]. Like I said, I really am speaking from a position of ignorance because I actually try to purposefully avoid all of that. [McGregor’s manager] Audie [Attar] and the team, they do all that, they go back and forth with Hunter [Campbell] and the UFC team. But yeah, it’s weird to me for someone to be the star he is and not get more opportunities.”
“I’m going to meet him either this evening or certainly tomorrow for the movie and trust me, that’s why I half-jokingly say to journalists, ‘You know as much as me,’” he added. “They all think, ‘Go on, give me the inside scoop.’ I’m seeing the same clips pop up that you guys do.”
Coach John Kavanagh feels it's "weird" for Conor McGregor to "not get more opportunities," but McGregor is ready to fight.

Kavanagh added that as far as he could tell, McGregor is currently “ready” to go.
Conor is hoping for the best
McGregor had been busy filming his movie, “Road House” as well as with other things. However, “Notorious” recently opened up about his situation and admitted that he is hoping for some clarity from the part of the UFC.
If everything goes according to McGregor’s plans, he eyes to fight three times this year, including the postponed bout with Michael Chandler. The former UFC two-division champion is also expecting to hear some concrete update from the UFC brass before the current year ends.
