- Conor McGregor wants to fight Michael Chandler on Mexican Independence Day and also give Nate Diaz a trilogy fight
- “Notorious” insisted that a boxing match with Manny Pacquiao is still happening
Conor McGregor may be busy with a lot of things but he assures everybody that fighting is still part of his plans.
Chandler and Diaz have been marked
On his Instagram story, “Notorious” delighted the fans with some straightforward answers regarding his next moves. According to McGregor, he has his sights on Michael Chandler on Mexican Independence Day which could be followed up by a trilogy match with Nate Diaz probably in September.
“I wish for this on Mexican Independence Day in the sphere. Chandler June. [Nate] Diaz September. I have let this be known,” McGregor wrote.
“Still holding hope for June 29. Lack of action on it, however, is now causing lack of enthusiasm. I need a decision soon. I am the most tested athlete under this new regime. Yet no date to fight. The game is a bit lackluster also at present, which isn’t helping. I hope these next few cards pop and I get a date. Eliminate distractions and begin real work towards it,” he added.
Pacquiao is not forgotten
Many believed that McGregor would no longer face boxing legend Manny Pacquiao following a dispute in their earlier agreement which resulted in a legal battle. However, the former UFC two-division champ surprisingly reiterated that a showdown with Pacquiao is “still there” and could possibly take place before the current year ends.
“It’s still there. Could be December. The Saudi’s are game changers in the market 100 per cent,” McGregor revealed.
McGregor also commended the UFC for mustering such a great card for UFC 300 and stated that Sean Strickland is “a good fella” as far as he could tell.
While McGregor’s plans for this year appear to be clear as day, the truth is that there is still no concrete status for his return. UFC president Dana White has previously admitted that they are not sure anymore if “Notorious” would ever fight again in the UFC.
McGregor has not fought professionally since injuring his leg at UFC 264 in 2021.
