Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler seem to be working out their issues on this season of The Ultimate Fighter.
The Ultimate Fighter TV show has become a fan favorite over the last 30 seasons. The show is a great way for young fighters to get recognition and work their way into the UFC. Over the past few seasons, the show has lost some of its fanbase but now season 30 is set to bring all those fans running right back to the television. The coaches for this season will be Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler. As many fans know wherever McGregor goes drama shortly follows. This season of The Ultimate Fighter seems no different.
The filming of The Ultimate Fighter is supposed to be done in secret. Fans are not supposed to know the ins and outs of what is going on inside the fighter house or in the TUF gym. This season there have been more leaks than usual. Even Dana White expressed to the media that there have been some confrontations between the coaches. Now McGregor is giving his thoughts on what’s been going down inside the house.
Conor McGregor addresses the hostile situation between himself and fellow coach Michael Chandler
McGregor and Chandler are pitted up against each other to see whose team will come out on top and whose fighter will be named “The Ultimate Fighter.” As in many seasons, the coaches who are battling against each other have drama and have even gotten into physical altercations in the past. White insinuated that it was the latter between McGregor and Chandler but now McGregor is saying that everything was worked out. He spoke about this in an interview with Robbie Fox on YouTube.
“We had an issue, obviously tempers are flaring. It’s a f–king hostile thing, right?” he said. “It was nothing but respect and admiration. There’s still admiration. That’s how it should be. That’s how the sport should be. You should have the ability to separate it and that’s what’s such a great thing about the sport. Usually, when you get in there and you deal with it’s a settler. So we had an issue, once during it, and it was all good. It was just you know, tempers are flared. And we got past it and I’m excited. I’m excited to have completed the competition against him in the show. And I’m excited to compete against him now for real.”
McGregor and Chandler will fight at the end of the season although the date is still undetermined. McGregor has removed himself from the USADA testing pool and therefore must be reinstated in order to fight in the UFC. The timetable on that would be at least six months of clean testing, putting him in at least September at this point.
