Colby Covington is confident that he would dethrone Leon Edwards at UFC 296. After that, “Chaos” vows to humiliate middleweight champion Sean Strickland.

Happy to humble Sean

Speaking to CODE Sports, “Chaos” insulted Strickland and claimed that “Tarzan” is trying hard to be like him. Covington then expressed his desire to take on Strickland and pointed out that he would be more than happy to humble the flamboyant middleweight champ.

“He’s pretending to be everything he wishes I was,” Covington said of Strickland. “I’d love to slap Sean Strickland around. He’s just a pathetic excuse of a human being, the guy has literally no fricking IQ. The guy’s so f**king stupid. The things he says, he needs to get his mouth wired shut and I’m the guy to do it. The UFC knows I’m the one that can end these guys that hate the company and they hate the world, so I would love to fight Sean Strickland.”

Islam is also on Colby’s target list

Aside from Strickland, Covington has also set his sights on lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. It can be recalled that Makhachev plans to move up to welterweight and chase double champion status after defending his title one more time. With that said, “Chaos” admitted that he is also considering a dream title fight with Islam.

Stating the obvious, Covington’s plans would only make sense if he manages to beat Edwards at UFC 296 this weekend. As it stands, “Rocky” is coming in looking to defend his welterweight crown for the second time, while Covington will be hoping to finally become the 170-pound division king, having held the interim welterweight title and lost in two title fights in the past.

UFC 296 will take place on December 16 at the T-Moblie Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
