Colby Covington is unsurprisingly brimming with confidence as he gears up for his upcoming title fight with Leon Edwards at UFC 296. As expected, “Chaos” mocked “Rocky” ahead of their highly-anticipated showdown.

Taking the gold back to America

In a video posted on his official Instagram account, Covington taunted the reigning welterweight champion by calling him “junior.” At the same time, “Chaos” also swore to bring the UFC gold back to America in typical Covington fashion.

“Tick tock, Leon (Edwards), three weeks to go. Everybody knows you didn’t want this fight, but just like the English didn’t want to give us our freedom here in America, we took it. And December 16, it’s going to be no different,” Covington said in the video.

“I’m taking that belt back to America,” he continued. “And you’re going back to the U.K. empty-handed, junior. See you soon.”

Colby’s third chance

Many are convinced that despite his eccentric personality, Covington possessed the qualities of a champion-caliber fighter. UFC 296 is Covington’s third chance of capturing the welterweight title, having lost twice against then-champion Kamaru Usman. Nevertheless, “Chaos” was able to stay in the Top 5 of the 170-pound division.

Covington is coming in off a decision victory over his ultimate rival Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. He will hope to be at his best after being inactive for more than one and a half year.

On the other hand, “Rocky” will look to defend his welterweight belt for the second time. Edwards successfully retained his title after dominating Usman in their epic rematch at UFC 286.

UFC 296 will take place on December 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
