Colby Covington Denies Receiving Contract Offer for Ian Garry Fight: ‘He’s Trying to Get Clickbait’

'Chaos' called Garry a flat-out liar, revealing that he has not heard anything from the UFC regarding a fight between the two

Colby Covington says Ian Garry is nothing, but a liar.

Last month, ‘The Future’ shared a video on social media claiming that he had accepted a fight with Covington. Garry added that a date was locked down — he was only waiting for ‘Chaos’ to sign on the dotted line.

However, that may not be the case.

During a recent appearance on The Rush podcast, Covington claimed that no such deal was in place, nor has he heard anything from the promotion regarding his next fight, whether it be against Ian Garry or someone else.

“We all know that he’s a cuck, but now we know he’s a liar,” Covington said. “UFC, Hunter (Campbell), Dana (White), they haven’t talked to me about this fight. This fight has not been presented. He’s just lying and he’s trying to get clickbait and people to talk about him.”

Colby Covington Doesn’t Believe Ian Garry Would Actually Show Up to Fight Him

Covington is by no means opposed to making Garry his next fight. His only real concern over signing on the dotted line is the possibility that the Irishman will bow out of the bout, similar to his previously scheduled scrap with Vicente Luque at UFC 296 in December.

“I don’t know who I’m fighting,” Covington said. “I gave him stipulations. I said, ‘Hey, if you want to fight me and you’re serious about business, just show me you’re serious because when I show up, I want to make money because I’m trying to do good business.

“We already saw at our last press conference he didn’t show up because he knew I was going to have a live mic. He’s already scared to show up to a press conference when he’s not fighting me, what’s going to happen when he’s at a press conference and has to fight me. He’s probably not going to show up. I gave him stipulations. If you want to fight me and show that you’re serious about business, turn on your comments.”

As it stands, Covington has no idea who he will face when he makes his return, but he’s happy to leave the decision-making up to his employer — so long as it gets him one step closer to another shot at UFC gold.

I’m gonna let [the UFC] decide [my next opponent], but I don’t know, maybe this kid ‘Baley Muhammad’ who’s been talking a lot… I think if I beat that guy it gets me right back to a title fight.”
