'Chaos' suggested that his support for the ex-POTUS is what led to a unanimous decision loss in Las Vegas

Colby Covington lost at UFC 296. The judges knew it. The fans knew it. His fellow fighters knew it.

Everyone seems to know it, except Covington.

Following his decisive unanimous decision defeat at the hands of reigning and defending welterweight world champion Leon Edwards, ‘Chaos’ has been making the interview rounds, sharing one excuse after another after coming up short in his third attempt at UFC gold. First, he claimed to have broken his foot within the first 30 seconds of his five-round scrap with ‘Rocky’ at the promotion’s final pay-per-view of the year.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough.

Covington went on to suggest that, despite the supposed injury, he only came up short on the scorecards due to his support for former U.S. President Donald Trump.

“I thought I had the win,” Covington said while appearing on Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime. “I thought I did enough, but the judges have never favored me. They hate me because I support Trump. Everybody hates Trump in this building. It is what it is, life goes on.

Trump was on hand for Covington’s return to the Octagon at UFC 296, but the ex-POTUS bailed right in the middle of Covington’s post-fight interview with Joe Rogan

“I think they stack the deck against us because they don’t want we the people to have control of this country again,” Covington added. “And that is what Trump stands for. He stands for democracy. He stands for freedom. So they are going to do everything they can to keep us down.

“If it is in any sort of judging position in a fight, or any sort of athletic event, they are going to stack the deck against us. It is a sad time in our country. But we need to rise up and we can’t let this keep us down.”

Fans Online Were Quick to Condemn Colby Covington’s ‘Embarrassing’ Excuses

Fans online were quick to condemn Covington’s flimsy excuses, proving that even his most staunch supporters are growing tired of the schtick.

Perhaps even more ridiculous, Colby Covington suggested that he deserves a rematch after allegedly injuring himself while kicking Edwards’ elbow early in the contest.

“I want a rematch,” Covington said. “I deserve it, you know. I think I broke my foot in the first 30 seconds in the fight kicking on his elbow so I want a rematch with this guy. I’m going to come back stronger. I’m just like the American people, you know, we never give up.
