Chael Sonnen Doesn’t Think Conor McGregor Is On ‘Steroids’ But Rather On ‘PEDs’

Chael Sonnen has an interesting theory about Conor McGregor.

After McGregor broke his leg in his UFC 264 fight against Dustin Poirier, he withdrew from the USADA testing pool so he could focus on his rehab. Immediately, many began thinking he was taking steroids, and McGregor has only played on it by posting several photos of him looking huge and taking shots at USADA.

Yet, Sonnen doesn’t think McGregor is actually taking steroids. Instead, he believes the Irishman is using Performance Enhancing Drugs, which certain ones are legal, claims Sonnen.

“People are so quick to say that Conor is on steroids. And I think what they mean is PEDs. They don’t know what he’s done, but he’s on Performance Enhancing Drugs,” Sonnen said on hisYouTube channel. “Now, with steroids, it specifically must be an anabolic agent. I don’t think when people look at Conor, they can prove there’s an anabolic agent. Now, I bring this to you because, there is a massive misunderstanding and the media did it. The media is the ones that did this. Performance Enhancing Drugs are not banned in sports. They never have been. That is what the media tells you. A substance that does not meet the qualification of a Performance Enhancing Drug is not by definition then allowed.

“There is a number of substances that have nothing to do with Performance Enhancing, they are banned,” Sonnen continued. “There is a whole bunch of substances that will help your performance that are legal. That’s the point I am trying to make for you. When people go and talk about Conor and they attempt to say he’s on steroids, it’s the dime in the quarter, do you mean he’s on a PED? Do you mean he’s taking something, because that would make sense to me.”

Whether or not Conor McGregor is on steroids or PEDs is uncertain as he hasn’t been tested to prove he is clean or not. But, with McGregor coaching TUF opposite Michael Chandler and set to return later this year which means he will need to be back in the USADA testing pool.
