Henry Cejudo might not be fighting Aljamain Sterling next, so he’ll settle for the next best thing.
‘Triple C’s’ campaign for an immediate title shot at UFC 284 would be shut down by current king Aljamain Sterling, citing the former champ needs to get a win before challenging him for the title. Plus, ‘Funkmaster’ wouldn’t be ready to rock at that time.
‘Me Vs. Ronald MethDonald’
It looks like Cejudo is taking his advice for now, setting his focus on #1 contender Sean O’Malley next. But, Cejudo doesn’t want this to just be a title eliminator fight. No, the former two-weight champion wants an interim title on the line against ‘Suga’ in Australia, since Sterling will likely be out until summer 2023.
“Hey @danawhite,” Cejudo wrote on Twitter. “Since Denzel Sterling wants to work on his rap career (He can be called Lil Power) How about Me Vs Ronald MethDonald @SugaSeanMMA for a interim in Australia? I’m short so I’m used to being Down Under.”

History
This isn’t Henry Cejudo’s first time picking on Sean O’Malley… nor will it be his last. Following O’Malley’s no-contest at UFC 276, Cejudo would confront O’Malley from afar about a potential fight.
In addition to that happening in-person, Cejudo has went after O’Malley numerous times online with the two often butting heads.
UFC 284 takes place on Feb. 12 (local time) in Perth, Australia. Let’s see if the UFC matchmakers put Cejudo and O’Malley together for an interim title fight in Aljamain Sterling’s absence.
