Cain Velasquez had his reasons for allegedly shooting at a man.
The Context
The former UFC Heavyweight has been charged with attempted murder. On Monday, Velasquez chased after a man who was accused of molesting his son, sources tell Middle Easy. After catching up with him on the road, Velasquez would open fire at the car which had the man and two other people with him.
Velasquez would end up shooting the man’s step-father on the scene off of Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue. The stepfather was hit at least once and has since been sent to the hospital. He is expected to survive.
Who Was Cain Exactly After?
The circumstances around the incident, all starts with 43 year-old Harry Eugene Goularte. He was accused of molesting Velasquez’s son at a daycare ran by Goularte’s mother. A criminal complaint was filed against Goularte with one felony count of a lewd and lascivious act.
Goularte was arraigned on Friday, with a judge granting him supervised release. This would occur despite objections from the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
The following Monday, Velasquez attempted to murder him for what he was accused of, molesting his son. Following this incident, Velasquez is set to appear in court on Wednesday.
