BJ Penn claims Anderson Silva just got bored with MMA

Ahh yes, the life of a fighter. Train your butt off and maybe one day you’ll be regarded as the greatest fighter to ever put on the gloves. Only problem is once you reach the mountaintop, things could get a little boring. If you don’t believe me ask B.J. Penn who claims that perhaps a lack of excitement was the cause of Anderson Silva being knocked senseless on Saturday night.

In a way this could be seen as a slight at Weidman, who should scoff at anyone’s attempt to disparage his win with thoughts of Silva’s complacency. Ultimately, I’m not sure Penn meant it that way. In fact I’m sure he didn’t.

Maybe, like Penn, Silva was tired of beating on grown men with malicious punches and slick submissions.

Perhaps it was time to try something different.

Either way, fighters obviously have different mindsets than that of non-fighters because when I eventually get bored tonight, I definitely don’t plan on getting knocked out. But hey, I’m not the greatest fighter of all time either.

Here is the video of Penn giving his thoughts on the loss.
